Welcome to Massage MasterMind!
You might be wondering what Massage MasterMind actually is. Well, in a moment I will explain in full detail, but for starters, right now, it is my blog. Soon, and hopefully with your help and the help of other massage therapists, MassageMasterMind.com will be a website that will change the lives of hundreds and maybe thousands of therapists all over.
What is Massage MasterMind? Well, it is my vision, or maybe a dream. Definitely a goal. My idea is to create a community of success-oriented, committed massage therapists who are willing to work together to help each other, and be helped by other like-minded individuals, to create successful practices, help educate the world to the benefits of massage, help to gain more respect for the industry, and help new therapists to be successful with the larger goal to help make massage more mainstream and much more viable to the health and wellness of our world. Too much to ask? I don’t think so. But I know it won’t be easy.
In the coming weeks I will cover many topics about this concept, what I envision, what I hope to accomplish (again, with your help), as well as the benefits to therapists who are part of the community, as well as the benefits their clients will see.
For starters, however, I feel it necessary to explain the name – MasterMind.
The MasterMind concept (I am intentionally spelling it this way) was first introduced by the author Napolean Hill in his timeless classic “Think And Grow Rich.” His principle was defined as:
“The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.”
He also states:
“No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind.”
A MasterMind group creates a synergy of energy, commitment and excitement that members bring to the group. This creates a combination of mastermind, peer brainstorming and support within the group. Basically, two or more people working together in focused, determined harmony are greater (or more effective, smarter, whatever) then the sum of the parts (individuals). I will go more in depth on this subject in future posts. Stay tuned.
Why do I feel the need to create a Massage MasterMind? Well, there are many reasons. First, I have been a part of MasterMind groups before, and I have seen the powerful effect they have on a business, particularly a small business, of which we are all involved. A MasterMind group will bring a diverse population with a variety of knowledge and experience together. I know I don’t know everything or have all of the answers, and some of the best help I have received has been from other, more experienced therapists. Second, and maybe most important, there is no one place that I have found that a massage therapists can get answers. That is one of the goals of the MassageMasterMind.com project…provide a single place to find the answers we need to be successful, to keep our practices profitable and growing, while at the same time remaining healthy and excited about the profession we have chosen.
I have searched the internet and other sources for information of various sorts, and sometimes I find good stuff, sometimes I find, well, crap. I also understand that one therapist’s success won’t always translate to another’s. That is why we need a large, diverse group to draw information and encouragement from (when I say large, I anticipate in the hundreds, maybe a thousand or more, but really, just a couple of hundred is more than large enough). And, we need a site that is the ultimate resource, whether you are looking for advice from a fellow therapist, the best deal on lotions and linens, or looking for the perfect training seminar to help improve your skills and grow your practice. My goal is that MassageMasterMind.com will have all of that and more.
I have checked out other sites for massage therapists, some are good, some are just all about advertising. Most won’t help me grow my practice. Some are just for business/practice growth, some are about technique and training, some offer promotional aides, and there is even a new social network site. But none of them offer all that I am looking for…so I have decided to create one.
And I need your help. I need your input to make this site the optimal place for us to learn and grow together. I have a million ideas of what I want it to look like and all the things I want it to provide. However, I know it isn’t about me, it is about you and every other driven, hard-working massage therapist out there. So, I am asking for your help. Tell me what you want. What would you like to see on this site? What services, information, resources would help you the most. I want this site to be the best it can be. Not everyone will be a part of the MasterMind. In fact, I don’t want just anyone involved. I need people who are determined to be successful as a therapist, who will work with others in creating a community that will help each other. Everyone’s involvement will be key. We all have things we need to learn, and we all have things to teach each other. I want to attract therapists that are serious about massage as a career and lifestyle, not just as a job.
So, how can you help? Glad you asked. For right now I need your ideas on what would make the ideal site. You can post comments here, but I would prefer you to email me at “massagemastermind@gmail.com”. The other important way you could assist is to spread the word. Let your fellow therapists know about this blog and the upcoming site. The more quality therapists we can attract, the better the site will be.
Your contributions will be greatly appreciated, and I hope that soon you will be able to join me at MassageMasterMind.com (not yet up and running by the way) and together we can help improve our practices as well as the massage industry in general.
Thanks for your time and input.
